Welcome to the MicroDVD Test Page
|
Description: The MicroDVD is an experiment that takes a music video DVD and converts it into an emailable/downloadable file that is completely self reliant, and requires no plug-ins or additional installations. The original DVD occupies over 1100 megabytes, whereas the MicroDVD only takes around 5 megabytes, about the same size as an MP3 file. Versions: The first version includes the entire music videos, requiring them to be at the smallest size. Version 2 includes 60 second previews of each video, but the file size is smaller, video screen is larger, and the Highrise video in Version 2 has subtitles. Background: The MicroDVD arises from early experimentation with Flash-based interactivity and streaming MP3 audio, draws from prototyping during the time the Macworld DVD Studio Pro Bible was written, making the leap from Flash-based animated music videos to multiple compressed digital video in a "DVD shell". MicroDVD characteristics include: - integration of traditional DVD functionality with Web-enhanced DVD content (Web links) into a single standalone file. - full simulation of traditional DVD functionality, including transparent DVD button highlights. - adaption of existing DVD menu design and video content, representing a new outlet for the same content, providing new promotional possibilities, such as the ability to have an emailable or downloadable excerpted versions of a DVD |
